	spazntwitch (It's like déjà vu again) - 2 months ago Thread closed. If Starbucks is giving these coupons away simply by a customer asking for them, then maybe that is the route to go if you don't feel like printing the coupon from the first post.
	Guest - 2 months ago I used it in midtown Manhattan yesterday, the cashier was very accepting. Today the cashier said they no longer accept it because there wasnt a barcode. However they put the order in for 2 and they said we could have them. 3 for 3!
	scarlitb (L1 Semi-Newbie) - 2 months ago When Starbucks hands out their recovery cards (cards that are given to customers when a wrong drink is made) they are labeled in the bottom corner with a unique stamp and the number of the store on it. This way they ensure the card is legit when it comes back. If they were that concerned, then they would do the same with the free drink cards they give out on a regular basis. And if you gave out 100 and got back 1000 then you didn't properly train your staff. It's on the baristas and managers to discourage against these things or as others have noted - simply refuse them outright. I understand it says not to be reproduced, but if they're choosing to take them at all of these locations, then that's their choice. The baristas see the coupons, they know the terms, so they're the ones with the power to say no.

If this was something that they were concerned about ripping people off, then they wouldn't accept anything but the ACTUAL printed flyer across the US. The baristas and managers are accepting ALL forms of this - mobile phone, printed, and verbal. Therefore it's not applicable if they're choosing to allow liberties with the fine print. If I went in and they made me pay, I would happily do so. Get it straight.

	Guest - 2 months ago It is counterfeit, it says right on the coupon that it is not valid if reproduced. Same thing as if you use fake dollar bills to get a 'free' coffee and they take it because they don't want to create a scene. Sad that corporations have to choose between accepting coupon fraud vs upsetting a bunch of people who can't pay for a damn coffee. What if you own a business and printed 100 coupons to give up to your clients. And you end up getting 1000 of them back? Who pays for that? Outright fraud. Not a 'deal'.
	scarlitb (L1 Semi-Newbie) - 2 months ago It's not counterfeit. It's a legitimate coupon that they made available to the public - we are just sharing it. The discount code is also accepted VERBALLY - therefore it's not an actual UPC coupon that would run risks of being improperly distributed or reproduced such as a $1.00 coupon you would use in the grocery store.
	Guest - 2 months ago Not cool using counterfeit coupons, if ya'll do this, they will no doubt reduce the amount of real coupons and offers in the future, even though they might accept it now not to cause a scene or cause bad feelings.

	Guest - 2 months ago Tried this in one of 3 locations near me in lower Manhattan (financial district). The printout was not accepted at the one I tired, but they gave me the real actual coupon for my next visit. Not sure if one of the others may have accepted though.

I gave it to my friend, she said it was the first one she's seen all day, but when she put in the code at the bottom, she said it worked. So yes, perhaps it is a YMMV coupon, but I find it odd that some register systems have the code programmed in and others wouldn't, considering Starbucks regulates all of its stores. Unless the baristas just didn't want to hand out a bunch of freebies.

	Guest - 2 months ago It's possible your local Starbucks might accept this, not knowing any better, but each location was given a stack of vouchers to hand out, and most locations are handing them out WHEN you buy one. They aren't supposed to honor the cert unless it's an original handed out by Starbucks.
